We had our ZOOM meeting on September 2nd. This time, we had 7 attendees including Linda Schell, who'd been away for a while, and Charles Kane who was with us for the first time. Welcome to both of you. Five regulars were also here, Rod, Ernie, Scott, Tish, and James.
Our discussion this week was an extension of a previous discussion on Character Development. Everyone joined in and offered opinions.
We checked in with each member as they related as to what they've been up to. Ernie Ovitz tells us he's finished the first draft of the series on Constantine he's been working on for a couple of years. We've heard excerpts over time and look forward to reading the collection.
Tish Mccauly has been writing on her memoir, after some editing, she is making headway. It's emotional and heart-rending to read. But, she's forging ahead. Hang in there girl.
Jim Kelly is making headway on the follow-up to his I Am A Soldier, First and Always series. Even with the pandemic in full swing, he plans a trip in the fall to the Dakota battlefields so he may see first-hand the terrain faced by Indians and Soldiers. He also has appointments with historians and docents who will share their knowledge of history with him. Good Luck and Enjoy.
Scott Anderson has submitted several compilations of his poetry as well as some individual poems for consideration in publications and contests. He has been using his spare time this year documenting butterfly population in Sarasota County. To date, he's counted some 7,600 butterflies in 60 species. In his adventures, he's has had a few exciting moments in finding little known or hard to find species. There have been frightening moments as well, like the time he was faced with a 200+ wild hog blocking his path. Stay safe my friend.
Our newbie this week, Charles Kane, has published works of fiction and worked as a publisher, editor, and writer in the Denver area for years. He is currently working on some non-fiction work as well as a fantasy story that started out as a short story but is growing as his interest is piqued.
Linda Schell is inviting us to submit work for reading on the radio program, Writers on the Air, she says, "Adjusting to Covid-19 as best we can, Writers on the Air, can no longer meet at the 97.5 FM radio station, but our voices can still be heard every Sunday at 3:00 on Emma Feix Alberts Facebook Page. After the show, Emma posts her show to the "Writers on the Air" FACEBOOK Page.
We want short stories, poems, and essays no more than three minutes. If a writer has written a book, submit a three-minute segment. Send submissions to me, Linda Schell: Lschell2@verizon.net. Don't forget your name!
Go to our Facebook page and find helpful information for writers. There's a little bit of good advice for everyone.
