Rain threatened at Patriot’s Park but didn’t spoil the fun. We gathered under the pavilion and carried on. Peter Frickel, Dennis Cathcart, Bruce Haedrich, Scott Anderson, and Ernie Ovitz welcomed Trish Roberts as a first-time member of our group. We had a good informal exchange, shared something about ourselves and our writing.
Bruce, Peter, Dennis, Trish, and Ernie read excerpts from their works. Scott brought a copy of the published report on his butterfly research in Sarasota County. The photography in his work was spectacular.
Scott surprised Peter, presenting him with a collection of magazines from the 1950s and ’60s published by the French Foreign Legion. The text was in French, of course, but not a problem for Peter. The rest of us thought the photography was pretty cool.
We were sorry to hear afterward that a couple of our members thought we were rained out. A strong heavy rain might do it, but gathering under the pavilion work just fine this time around. Our fearless leader, Rod DiGruttolo, had company. We missed him too, and we hope that you all will be able to join us back in the park on Wednesday afternoon, July 21st.
